Are Beacons Connected to internet?

So this is a good question were many people get confused. We have explained on a previous article what BLE Beacons are and you can find the article here.

BLE Beacons are not connected to the internet, your mobile is, which consumes the Beacon's transmission if a number of prerequisites are met.

When there are some beacons that can be controlled by a Bluetooth HUB, managing the firmware upgrade, the decibels, the frequency and the change of UUID or UID, Beacons are simple devices broadcasting few bytes of data to anyone who is there to listen.

In our case that is the mobile phone that listens to the beacon's ID and based on the application running on it, calls back to a central CRM through APIs (application programming interfaces).
